Note:
The tube is a neck extension for a glass. It helps with nosing consistency when doing side by sides. It helps to make sure that smells are always observed from the same distance from the glass rim to remove variation. It also represents a silly anecdotal metaphor for capturing the thought that high proof funky rums smell the best when your nose is outside the glass and not directly inside the glass. As for the tube on the bottom, my glass stem broke so that's what I use as a base now.
